Back to the USA for « Spring break »! A quick immersion into Flordia's rich linguistic and cultural heritage, and the opportunity to meet one of my clients based in Miami.

Study day held at the “Maison de la recherche” at the Université Lille III, France. This symposium focused on “Translation & Quality”, and especially the methodologies used in the quality assurance process (QA checks). Reflecting the topic of the day, presentations were of high quality and provided very useful insights on QA tools.

It was also a great opportunity to visit the school I graduated from!

03-06/12 :

ProZ.com Conference hosted in the "Maison du séminaire" in Nice, France. Four days of training and networking with many professionals in the translation business: a great opportunity to learn about new practices and socialize with other translators from France or abroad, while enjoying beautiful French Riviera!

 
July / August 2009
A hectic and eclectic summer! Here are some of the main projects I am entrusted with over the summer period:
     - Rewriting job (over 50 000 words) for an antivirus software editor. The text a has been roughly "pre-translated" by a computer program and needs professional intervention so the quality of the translated document can match that of the product ...
     - User's guide translation of an AM/FM tuner, the latest model of a reputable English hi-fi equipment manufacturer for whom I have already translated many manuals.
     - Translation of a White paper for an ERP software editor.
     - Translation of a summary document on the impact of the economic crisis throughout Europe from a social perspective (8 pages), at the request of a European organization.
     - Marketing translation for the Website of a famous espresso machine and capsule coffee maker.
 
 
June 2009
06/26:
Meeting with M.M. HT Sdn Bhd's friendly staff, in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
I finally have the opportunity to put faces to names! H.T. Sdn has been one of my most regular clients since 2005. Their technical writers' team design audio-video equipment manuals on behalf of one of the Japanese leaders in the industry, which I then translate into French.
 

06/20:
Quarterly meeting of the "Délégation SFT Grand Ouest" at the Domaine de Rochambeau near Angers, in the Loire Valley.
Our agenda for this convivial gathering with fellow translators and SFT members from the West of France: sharing thoughts and good times around topics such as terminology (how to make the most of a technical visit - theoretical and practical aspects) or communication tools for translators.
